About & Governance

Your Community, Your Committee

Macarthur Heights Community Group Incorporated (MHCG) is a volunteer-led not-for-profit incorporated association representing residents and property owners of Macarthur Heights, NSW. MHCG operates under a constitution registered with NSW Fair Trading under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW). The association's change of objects and constitution was registered by NSW Fair Trading on 8 September 2026 under reference 26-21871. The registration followed a special resolution passed by members at the Annual General Meeting on 30 August 2026. Members elect a committee at each annual general meeting, and every decision, minute and dollar is reported back to members — this page shows exactly how we're organised and how you can take part.

Governance

How MHCG is governed

MHCG is governed by a committee elected by members in accordance with the current constitution. The committee is responsible for managing the association's affairs, overseeing funds, supporting volunteers and ensuring that activities advance MHCG's community purposes.

Committee members are expected to disclose relevant conflicts of interest and act in the interests of MHCG and its community purpose. Conflicts should be managed in accordance with the constitution and applicable requirements.

About MHCG

Our Mission and Values

Our mission

To bring neighbours together and make Macarthur Heights a safer, greener, friendlier place to live.

We create everyday opportunities for residents and property owners to meet, we organise volunteer-led events and projects that improve our shared spaces, and we represent the community's interests with the developer, council and local services.

Our not-for-profit purpose

MHCG exists to benefit the Macarthur Heights community. Our resources support connection, inclusion, volunteering, community advocacy, local projects and improvements to shared spaces. We carry out this mission as a volunteer-led not-for-profit incorporated association.

Community connection

Neighbours who know each other look out for each other. Everything we run is designed to make that easier.

Inclusion

Every household in Macarthur Heights is welcome, whatever your background, age, faith or how long you've lived here.

Transparency

We communicate openly about our activities, decisions and use of funds. Governance records, approved minutes and relevant financial information are reported to members and published where appropriate.

Volunteering

We are entirely volunteer-run. Members propose ideas and members make them happen.

Respect

Debate ideas, never people. Our meetings and group chats are kind, courteous places.

Improving local amenity

Safer streets, better parks and green spaces, and a stronger voice with the developer, council and local services.

What MHCG's not-for-profit status means

What our registered not-for-profit status does — and does not — mean.

  • MHCG operates for community purposes.
  • MHCG's resources are used to advance those purposes.
  • Surpluses are retained for community and reasonable operating purposes.
  • Members do not receive profits merely because they are members.
  • Contributions are voluntary.
  • Contributions are NOT tax-deductible.
  • Not-for-profit status is not the same as charity status.
  • Not-for-profit status does not automatically provide Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.
  • Governance and reporting continue to be managed under the constitution and applicable NSW requirements.
